Registering or Deleting Classes:
Registration open from June 1, 2011 through  November 2012
Register before checking out for the summer
Register online at the professional development Secure Site www.kgcs.k12.va.us/reg/_asp/logon2.asp.
Courses close when the maximum enrollment is reached
New hires may register after they are approved by the school board
Delete classes at the professional development Secure Site www.kgcs.k12.va.us/reg/_asp/logon2.asp.

Cancellation of Classes:
Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment, weather or other unforeseeable circumstances.
Participants are notified using the information provided from your “Teacher Profile” in the professional development secure site
Update your contact information in the professional development secure site!

Technology Professional Development Requirements:
10 required hours of technology professional development
Attend a three hour class at the summer institute
Attend three one hour sessions at your buildingComplete one full online course OR 12 lessons of your choice from SimpleTech Learning
Complete a pre-approved technology class that has been approved by the Supervisor of Technology
Create a lesson plan based on information from the class that you took
Implement the lesson with your students
Attend one follow up for each technology class
Face to Face Follow Up
Blogging Online

Follow-Up Requirements:
Follow Up sessions address these three questions
Describe your lesson in detail (minimum 50 words)
What did your students learn from this lesson? How did this enhance their 21st century skills?
What would you recommend to other teachers who choose to use this with their students?


Face to Face Follow Up Option:
Participants must address these questions orally with the group. They are not expected to write a written lesson plan, however, each question must be discussed in addition to showing how they used specific technology tool(s) in their lesson

Blogging Follow Up Option: Participants must blog their responses to the three questions as well as respond to two other posts of their peers
You must sign up for follow up sessions at the professional development registration secure site
Enter the course number for the class you are presenting on the registration page
Participants may attend a follow up session after they have taught their lesson with their students
Participants may not attend one follow up session for two technology classes

Other Options for Technology Professional Development Hours:
Graduate or undergraduate technology classes must be pre-approved by the Supervisor of Technology
Submit out a course approval form before the end of the course
Submit a copy of your transcript after the course is completed
Classes taken in the past or ones already completed will not count towards technology professional development
